Video Department Intern

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The video department intern reports to the full-time employees of the video department.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The video department intern will have the opportunity to see the production process from an initial concept to on-set production experiences through finishing in the postproduction process. The intern will explore professional video collaboration with the creative and account service teams; basic production logistics planning; camera, lighting & sound techniques; photography; on-set production procedures; editing; and animation with multiple ad campaigns and clients.

You will team up with other interns from copywriting, graphic design and account management to better understand project expectations and produce branding with the needs of the client in mind. You will participate in brainstorms, present your own work and support the creative and video departments in producing high-quality video/photography work.

To be a successful video intern you should expect to contribute designs and high-level creative thinking for our agency and real clients. You should be curious, motivated and detail-oriented.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Concepting: Participate in brainstorming video ideas and concepts that would meet the needs of client ad campaigns.
  • Preproduction: Assist in the initial production process with equipment prep, logistics planning, scheduling, budgeting, and storyboard/shotlist development.
  • On-Set Production: As a production assistant, you are expected to support different departments in their work. Based on the needs of the project, your responsibilities could range from helping to set up lights/camera/sound, organizing props, performing production errands, and generally helping to make sure the production runs smoothly.
  • Postproduction: Familiarize yourself with professional editing/color software such as Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve to produce initial edit assemblies and rough cuts.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A rudimentary understanding of production and post processes, storytelling techniques and video editing.
  • Strong communication, creativity and brainstorming skills
  • Flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with editing programs including Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or similar professional-grade editing software.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator preferred.
  • Photography and illustration skills recommended.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated yet receptive to feedback.
