Media Intern

JOB PURPOSE

This is an opportunity for an intern to become immersed in traditional and digital media and learn what is involved in becoming a media planner/buyer in an advertising agency. The media intern combines creative thinking and project management skills, while maintaining a keen focus on quality to heighten consumer engagement across all target markets. This position is responsible for providing strategic planning support across all media channels (traditional and digital) while exhibiting a firm understanding of branding principles and ROI driving tactics. The media intern will learn about planning, executing and analyzing traditional and digital campaigns across display, mobile, rich media and video as well as traditional media channels such a broadcast, audio, out-of-home and print.

Ideal candidates are self-motivated and organized, and strive to provide quality work. They have strong communication skills (both written and oral). They are well plugged in, with the ability to multitask and think critically. Our media interns thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with a variety of team members to get the job done. They are team players who love to have fun!

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The media intern reports to their supervisor.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend campaign kickoff meetings to gain understanding of the planning process.
  • Assist in collaboration of campaign targeting by audience and demographic.
  • Gain understanding of digital and traditional advertising campaign strategies.
  • Help with research needs of the media dept. (markets, vendors and target audiences) for use in client media plans and new business efforts.
  • Help gather creative specifications and deadlines once media plans are approved by clients.
  • Send out creative assets to vendors in a timely manner.
  • Deploy paid social campaigns.
  • Assist in developing media plans: Keynotes and flowcharts.
  • Analyze campaigns to see campaign metric performance and conversion goal success.
  • Learn about monthly client reporting.
  • Learn key media terminology.
